Justice League of America #21 (July 2008) VF $2.00
Happy New Year! I collect comic books and only ones with Hawkgirl on the cover. To date, 216 books have been collected. Presented for your approval is one of two issues that I recently acquired and that were published a little over a decade-ago – both of which are from the award-winning series Justice League of America Vol. II (2006-2011).
This #21 is from volume II of the Justice League of America series which ran from 2006 to 2011. Deep within the story titled “The Gathering Crisis”, in which we are reintroduced to a character named Libra that first appeared in the volume I Justice league of America #111 (June 1974), another villain named Human Flame, tangles with Hawkgirl and Red Arrow. All four characters appear on the cover.
At one point, Human Flame sets Hawkgirl’s wings aflame while she is in mid flight. This causes her to crash into a car parked in the street below.
After an embarrassing episode in which both Hawkgirl and Red Arrow are nearly defeated, they are about to douse the Human Flame when suddenly Libra shows up, attacking the Pinioned Princess and then accepting the Human Flame into his newly reformed Injustice gang.
